Edwardian dress

made from embroidered batiste with 'S'-curved corset

Period: around 1900

This 'S'-curved corset has the distinctive silhouette from around the year 1900 – pushed-up breasts and pulled-in stomach – and was designed for a TV documentary about the history of the corset. This corset type puts a lot of pressure on internal organs and often leads to shortness of breath. Of all corset varieties this is most certainly the least comfortable.

The accompanying Jugendstil dress was cut correspondingly to further emphasize the overall cut and silhouette. Thus the top goes slightly below the waist, whereas the skirt is plain at the front and gathered at the back. We newly re-created this dress – based on an original cut – from delicate batiste with antique lace and antique whitework embroidery.

The big, flower-bedecked straw hat completes the ensemble picturesquely.

Price category: H (incl. corset)
