Day dress with bustle

made from patterned silk

Period: around 1883

For this plain promenade dress we decide for light-blue-cream-patterned silk. The antique brooch, which reflects the colors of the silk, and 24 antique gold buttons are the only decorations of the horsehair strengthened jacket; coil springs further reassure the serious shape.

The lower skirt was furnished with three tiers of pleated flounces with top one being divided at the center and gathered multiple times at the back. There are an additional underskirt and steel bustle below the other two skirts.
As model served contemporary prints and original cuts.
